Col. Shawver selected as Assistant Adjutant General, Air

GOWEN FIELD, Boise, Idaho -- Today, Idaho Adjutant General Brig. Gen. Gary Sayler named Col. Bill Shawver as the Assistant Adjutant General, Idaho Air National Guard.

Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter last week selected Brig. Gen. Sayler to be Idaho Adjutant General, leaving Sayler's former position vacant.

Col. Shawver takes on the dual role of Assistant Adjutant, Air and Director, Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security.

Shawver is a 34-year veteran of military service, including 31 years with the Idaho Air National Guard. In this new position, Shawver will be promoted to the rank of brigadier general.

For the past two years, Col. Shawver has served as Idaho BHS director, a
position he will continue to hold. His previous positions include:

- Chief of Staff, Idaho National Guard Joint Force Headquarters

- Chief of Staff, 124th Wing, Idaho Air National Guard

"Colonel Shawver brings a wealth of experience to his new role as the Idaho Air National Guard's senior officer," said Brig. Gen. Sayler. "I know he will use his experience to lead the Idaho Air National Guard to new heights and I'm confident he's the right officer to be my point man in our efforts to bring the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter training mission to Boise."

"I'm extremely honored to be selected for this new role and I appreciate the confidence Brigadier General Sayler has placed in me," Col. Shawver said. "In this challenging climate of deployments of our service members to two combat zones, I look forward to getting back to my roots as an airman in the Idaho Air National Guard. But I will also continue to serve our Governor and the people of Idaho as the Director of the Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security.
Idaho BHS will continue to provide great service to First Responders around the state and all Idahoans as the state's emergency management agency."
