GOWEN FIELD, Boise, Idaho -- Lt. Col. James Heuring assumed command of the 124th Civil Engineering Squadron during a ceremony at Gowen Field Feb. 22.
Lt. Col. Heuring was previously assigned to the 124th Fighter Wing Financial Management where he served as the Financial Manager since 2002.
"I am very proud and excited to be your commander. I see many challenges ahead that will keep us extremely busy and I look forward to be part of that with you," said Lt. Col. Heuring.
The 124th Civil Engineering Squadron was previously under the command of retired Lt. Col. Dan Kluck who assumed command in 2002.
Col. Chris Rood, Mission Support Group Commander said that the Civil Engineering Squadron completed $56 million in projects while under the command of Col. Kluck. Much of this work is evident by the many blue-roof buildings here on base.
Col. Rood explained that the Civil Engineering Squadron played an instrumental role in securing the 124th Fighter Wing on the candidate list for basing the F-35 Lightning II joint strike fighters. The candidates were announced by Air Force officials Oct. 29.
