Colonel Elizabeth A. Sumner

Colonel Elizabeth A. Sumner is the 124th Fighter Wing Vice Commander, Idaho Air National Guard, Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho.  Prior to this assignment, she served as the 124th Mission Support Group Commander, the 124th Deputy Mission Support Group Commander, the 124th Civil Engineer Squadron Commander, Base Civil Engineer and Base Fire Marshal. She has also served as the 124th Fighter Wing Executive Officer, Director of Staff, Sexual Assault Response Coordinator and as an instructor for the Intelligence Formal Training Unit for A-10 Intelligence Analysts at Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho.  The 124th Fighter Wing, based at Gowen Field (Boise Air Terminal) in Boise, Idaho, is a reserve component of the U.S. Air Force’s Air Combat Command. 

Colonel Sumner began her military career when she graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in May 1997 where she was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the US Air Force.  She served as an Intelligence Officer on active duty for nearly 8 years, with assignments to Luke AFB, Arizona, Kunsan AB, Republic of Korea, and Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. She attended US Air Force Weapons School and graduated in December 2001 with the best division paper.  She joined the Air National Guard in 2005 and served as an Intelligence Officer in the 124th Fighter Wing at Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho, the 168th Air Refueling Wing at Eielson AFB, Alaska and the 601st Air and Space Operations Center at Tyndall AFB, Florida. Colonel Sumner is married to Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Richard Sumner and they have three incredible boys.
