COLONEL JEFFERY D AEBISCHER COLONEL JEFFERY D. AEBISCHER Colonel Jeffery D. Aebischer is the Vice Wing Commander of the 124th Fighter Wing, Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho. As the Vice Wing Commander, Colonel Aebischer ensures the continued readiness of the 124th Fighter Wing consisting of over 1,300 military members, supporting both the federal and state missions. The 124th Fighter Wing’s primary mission is to provide close air support and forward air control to combat troops from all branches in support of combat operations abroad, as well as providing Airmen ready and able to respond to stateside emergencies at a moment notice. Col. Aebischer graduated from Northwest Nazarene University in 1985, where he earned his Baccalaureate degree in Secondary Math Education. He joined the Idaho Air National Guard in 1987 and earned his commission through the Academy of Military Science in 1988. Col. Aebischer graduated Undergraduate Navigator Training in 1989 and began his first operational assignment with the Idaho Air National Guard as a Weapon Systems Operator in the RF-4C in 1990. He continued flying as a traditional guardsmen converting to the F-4G Wild Weasel in 1991 as an Electronic Warfare Officer flying several combat and combat support missions in Southwest Asia. In 1996, he transitioned to the C-130E Hercules as navigator and was qualified as an instructor navigator in 2001. He began serving full-time in 2002 as chief of training for the 189th Airlift Squadron and later as chief of standards and evaluations. In 2005, Col. Aebischer was selected as the 124th Deputy Mission Support Commander. He became the first commander of the 212th Command and Control Squadron two years later. Col. Aebischer was assigned to the Air National Guard Readiness Center in 2010 and completed a one year statutory tour as the lead for a Cyberspace Defense pilot initiative for the Air National Guard. In August of 2012, Col. Aebischer was appointed the Director of Staff for the Idaho Air National Guard where he served for two years. November of 2014 he was selected as the Commander for the 124th Mission Support Group where he served until 2015 when he became the Vice-Commander for the 124th Fighter Wing.
