124th Fighter Wing marksmen host veterans for a fun shoot
Staff Sgt. Brant Clouss of Kuna, Idaho, a member of the Idaho Air National Guard's 124th Fighter Wing Marksmanship team, reloads U.S. Navy veteran Richard Nelson's .22 caliber rifle Feb. 29 at the Boise Rifle and Pistol Club. Clouss, a security policeman from the 124th Security Forces Squadron, was one of several young marksmen who took time away from his family to support the event. "It's fun to do this and give back to them for their service," Clouss said.

The Idaho Military History Museum supplied a fire detail for this 75mm Pack Howitzer that fired off three rounds at the conclusion of the ceremony May 24. Bricks like these can be purchased through the Idaho Military History Museum website at http://museum.mil.idaho.gov/. Funds will go to future improvements on the park such as a service seal display and an outdoor amphitheater for small unit functions. 124th Fighter Wing Airmen gathered together at the Grove Hotel, in Boise, for the annual Guardsmen of the Year Banquet Jan. 14, 2012. This regular gathering is a chance to honor Airmen who have excelled in the past year in quarterly competitions. It also gives Airmen a chance to formally come together and enjoy an evening celebrating the unique culture of the Idaho Air National Guard. Chief Master Sgt. Christopher Muncy, the Command Chief Master Sgt. to the Director of the Air National Guard presented the keynote address about the unique Air National Guard mission. Tom Shuler from the 124th Air Support Operations Squadron of the Idaho Air National Guard run laps around the Gowen Field running track March 17. Beginning at 5 p.m. March 17 and lasting until 5 p.m. the following day, more than 30 Idaho ASOS members ran 270 miles to honor three ASOS Airmen who were killed in action during the month of March, including Maj. Greg Stone, a former Air Liaison Officer from the 124th ASOS who died March 25, 2003, in Kuwait. The 124th was one of several units from around the world to participate in the inaugural event.

Gowen Field road renamed in honor of former adjutant general
Former Idaho adjutant general, retired Maj. Gen. Darrell Manning, addresses a crowd of military and elected leaders after the road entering Gowen Field was named in his honor, March 27, in Boise, Idaho. Farman Street, named for a French aviation pioneer, was renamed Gen Manning Avenue in honor of the 41-year military veteran and Preston, Idaho, native who retired as the senior military official in Idaho in 1995.
